Privacy policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Harper Jewels is an online jewellery store run by Jonathan Ramos LLC. This policy sets out what personal information we collect when you browse or buy from this website, why we collect it, who receives it, how long we keep it and the choices you have. It covers this website and any email or messaging contact you have with our customer service team.
Our customers are in Australia, so we handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Our company is registered in the United States, which means some information is processed there and by our providers overseas — section 7 explains what that means for you.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Jonathan Ramos LLC, trading as Harper Jewels
9235 Downey Ave, Downey, California, 90240, United States
Email: support@harperjewels.com
Our fulfilment team packs orders and couriers deliver them. We have no showroom and do not offer pick-up.
2. What we collect
Details you give us. To fulfil an order we collect your name, delivery and billing addresses, email address and phone number, plus any personalisation you enter (such as a name, initial or birthstone). When you email us, subscribe, leave a review or ask about sizing, we keep what you write and the address you wrote from.
Payment details. We never collect or store your full card number, expiry date or security code. You enter them directly into the Shopify checkout, and your chosen payment provider handles them. We only receive whether the payment succeeded, the payment type and the last four digits of the card, so we can match your order and issue refunds.
Details collected automatically. When you browse we record technical information such as your IP address, device, browser, operating system, screen size, language, the site that referred you, the pages you view, your searches, your cart contents and when you visited. This comes from cookies and similar tools — see section 5.
Details from others. Payment and fraud-prevention services may give us a risk score for an order, carriers send us delivery updates, and an advertising or social platform may tell us which campaign brought you to us. We never buy personal information from data brokers.
We don't ask for sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act, such as health, biometric, ethnic, political, religious or sexual-orientation data, and we ask you not to send it.
3. Why we use it
- Fulfilling your order: taking payment, checking for fraud, making your personalised piece, shipping it, sending tracking and handling returns, exchanges and refunds.
- Helping you: answering emails, finding orders, advising on sizes and sorting out delivery or warranty problems.
- Running and improving the store: seeing which products and pages are popular, fixing errors, testing changes and keeping the site secure.
- Marketing, where you agreed: sending new-arrival and offer emails if you opted in, and showing our ads on other platforms.
- Legal obligations: keeping tax and transaction records, answering lawful requests and enforcing our Terms of Service.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't give it to third parties for their own marketing.
4. Marketing emails
We only send marketing emails if you asked for them, by subscribing on the site or ticking the box at checkout. Each one has an unsubscribe link, or you can email support@harperjewels.com to be removed. Removal is immediate on our side, though an email already scheduled may still reach you. Order confirmations, shipping and tracking updates and replies to your questions are service emails and are sent whether or not you subscribe.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files your browser stores. We use:
- Essential cookies that hold your cart, keep you signed in, apply discount codes and protect checkout — the store won't work without them.
- Analytics cookies that count visits and show, in aggregate, which pages and products are used.
- Advertising cookies that measure whether an ad led to a visit or purchase and let us show our products to you on other platforms.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser, and most browsers can refuse third-party cookies. Blocking essential cookies will break the cart and checkout. Where a consent banner appears, your choices there control the non-essential cookies, and you can change them whenever you like. You can also visit Your Privacy Choices.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the providers we need to run the store, and only what they need:
- Shopify — hosts the website and runs the checkout. See shopify.com/legal/privacy.
- Payment providers — whichever you choose at checkout (for example Shopify Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Shop Pay) receives your payment and billing details directly under its own privacy policy.
- Carriers and fulfilment partners — your name, delivery address, phone number and email, so the parcel can be made, delivered and tracked.
- Analytics and advertising platforms — usage and campaign data, usually aggregated or pseudonymous.
- Advisers and authorities — for example our accountants, or a regulator, court or law-enforcement agency where the law requires it.
- A buyer or successor — if the business is sold or restructured, customer records may move with it, still protected by this policy.
7. Where your information is held
Jonathan Ramos LLC is registered in California and our providers operate worldwide, so your information may be stored or accessed outside Australia — most often in the United States, Canada, the European Union and Singapore, where privacy law can differ from ours. Before information goes overseas we take reasonable steps, including the contract terms each provider agrees to, so it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
8. How long we keep it
Order records — your name, addresses and what you bought — are kept for at least seven years because tax and record-keeping rules require it. Customer service emails are kept for up to three years so we can see the history of a return or warranty claim. Subscriber records are kept until you unsubscribe and briefly afterwards so we don't email you again by mistake. Analytics data is kept in aggregate. Anything we no longer need and aren't required to keep is deleted or de-identified.
9. Security
The whole site runs over HTTPS and checkout data is encrypted in transit. Only the people who fulfil orders and answer questions can access customer data, using individual accounts with multi-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise absolute security, but if a breach is likely to cause you serious harm we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
10. Your rights and choices
You can ask us to:
- show you the personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything inaccurate, outdated or incomplete;
- delete your information where we don't have to keep it;
- stop sending you marketing at any time;
- give you a portable copy of the information you provided.
Email support@harperjewels.com with your request and the order number or email address you used so we can find your records. We respond within 30 days, may need to confirm your identity first, and will explain if part of a request can't be carried out — for example where tax law makes us keep an order record.
Visitors from the UK or EEA also have their GDPR rights, including objecting to processing and complaining to their local regulator, and California residents have their CCPA rights — we don't sell or share personal information as that Act defines it. Using any of these rights will never get you a worse price or service.
11. Children
This store is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16; if you think a child has given us their details, email support@harperjewels.com and we will delete them.
12. Other websites
We sometimes link to other sites, such as a carrier's tracking page or a payment provider. We don't control them and aren't responsible for how they handle privacy, so read their policies before sharing your information.
13. Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, please tell us first at support@harperjewels.com. We will look into it and reply in writing, usually within 30 days. If you aren't satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices, providers or the law change. The latest version is always on this page, dated at the top, and we will make any significant change clear on the site.
